My daughter loves Halloween and everything about fall. In particular, she loves going to the pumpkin patch and knowing everything she can about the season. I figured one way to help her enjoy the season, even more, is to read books on fall. That way, she can learn more about what happens during fall and get everything she can out of it! Thus, I have compiled a list of some of the best fall books for preschoolers!

We love the Pete the Cat series! In this book, Pete learns about the fun things that fall has to offer such as hayrides, corn mazes, and apple picking. Also, this book has great reviews on Amazon and even comes with 12 Thanksgiving cards, a fold-out poster, and stickers!
This story follows a girl who takes a walk through the forest and town. She welcomes all the signs of autumn, as she has conversations with “every flower and creature and gust of wind.” This book should help your little one become more excited about the coming change in the seasons!
This book explores all of the awesome parts of fall such as the leaves changing colors and the foods we eat at Thanksgiving. Also, there are colorful pictures, wonderful explanations, and craft ideas in this book. Such a fun book for learning about fall!
Based on the popular song, three friends go on a leaf finding adventure! They hike over a mountain and through a forest to see what leaves they can find. And at the end of the story, the three friends jump in the pile of leaves that they found! This book also has good reviews on Amazon!
This story is about a grandfather and granddaughter who welcome everything beautiful about fall. For instance, fall offers colorful leaves, geese honking, and pumpkins. This book helps one recognize and enjoy how fall announces itself!
This story follows the life cycle of an acorn into a live oak tree. This is a great introduction to the life cycle of trees! It also has good reviews on Amazon and has done well as a new release!
This story follows a young bear who experiences his first autumn. He becomes surprised when the leaves start to fall and then can’t be reattached to the trees. The young bear eventually becomes sleepy and burrows in the leaves to take a long nap. The bear wakes up in spring to be welcomed by brand new leaves all around him! This book is good for teaching little ones about the changing seasons, as it is a best seller in children’s books on seasons.
Fall has arrived and the wind is gusting. One is left to wonder if the leaf man will be headed east over the marsh or is he headed west above the orchards? However, we do know that the leaf man has got to go where the wind blows. This book offers illustrations made from actual leaves and beautiful pictures of landscapes that are sure to play on the rich imaginations of children.
This story captures a little girl’s excitement for the season. For instance, the little girl spends a beautiful day picking apples and picking out the perfect pumpkin. She goes home to help carve the pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern, and then she later goes out trick-or-treating with her father. This should be a great story to read with your little one, as the reviews on Amazon are good!
Fletcher, the fox, becomes worried when leaves start to fall from his favorite tree. Winter then comes, and with it, comes a surprise. Join Fletcher to figure out what the surprise is.
Fletcher wants to understand the changes of the seasons, and young readers will enjoy the same sense of wonder and empathy as they sit with you as you read this story.
