Parenting is interesting, fun, inspiring, motivating, and joyous. At the same time, it can also be frustrating, confusing, and difficult. We wonder if we are doing enough or if we are parenting right. Questions swirl around, such as “How will my child turn out?” “Will they be ok later in life?”
It would be amazing if we knew exactly what to do in every situation. But, unfortunately, kids don’t come with manuals. We learn through trial and error or even from what we saw our own parents do. We may wish to be a lot like our own parents, or we worry about doing everything not to be like them.
Thus, this led me to a different kind of post. I wanted to list parenting quotes that could make you laugh, but also help you know that you are all that your child needs. You are enough. I promise. I hope some of these quotes are also inspiring.
1.“Having a baby is a life-changer. It gives you a whole other perspective on why you wake up every day.” -Taylor Hanson
2.“There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, the other, wings.” -Johann Wolfgang von Geothe
3.“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of the parents.” -Jane D. Hull
4.“There are times as a parent when you realize that your job is not to be the parent you always imagined you’d be, the parent you always wish you had. Your job is to be the parent your child needs, given the particulars of his or her own life and nature.” -Ayelet Waldman
5.“As a housewife, I feel that if my kids are still alive when my husband gets home from work, then hey, I’ve done my job.” -Roseanne Barr
6.“The Golden Rule of Parenting is; do unto your children as you wish your parents had done unto you.” -Louise Hart
7.“Hugs can do great amounts of good-especially for children.” -Princess Diana
8.“You learn that there’s no right way to do it, no wrong way to do it. It’s just what you feel comfortable with, to trust that, and don’t let anybody box you in to a certain style of parenting or make you feel a certain way about what your kids do.” -Stephen Curry
9.“Having children is like having a bowling alley installed in your brain.” -Martin Mull
10.“The relation between parents and children is essentially based on teaching.” -Gilbert Highet
11.”Somebody once told me I treated my smart phone like Wilson, the volleyball Tom Hanks turns into a friend when he’s stranded on a desert island in that movie ‘Castaway.’ It’s an apt comparison: parenting a toddler occasionally feels like being marooned, and your phone is your only connection to rest of the world.” -Rachel Simmons
12.”Parenting is one of the best management training programs there is.” -Irene Rosenfeld
13.“The thing about parenting rules is there aren’t any. That’s what makes it so difficult.” -Ewan McGregor
14. “There’s this constant guilt that comes with parenting. You always feel like you’re never enough. If you’re confident in your parenting, you probably suck at it.” -Nia Vardalos
15.“I’m afraid the parenting advice to come out of developmental psychology is very boring: pay attention to your kids and love them.” -Alison Gopnik
16.“One of the many problems with parenting is that kids keep changing. Just when you are used to once stage, they zoom into another.” -Pamela Druckerman
17.“I think that good parenting should allow children to be children. That naivety and slightly open way of looking at the world is very valuable.” -Robert Winston
18.”For me, conscious parenting is staying attuned to your child, being really open and and in the moment. It means staying as present as possible in your own breath for the betterment of your whole family.” -Anna Getty
19.“Success for me it’s to raise happy, healthy human beings.” -Kelly LeBrock
20.”Parenting makes us better in so many regards.” -Alissa Quart
I hope this helps! Parenting is tough and is probably one of the biggest adventures you have experienced. It takes work, but it’s also fun and exciting. I think being a successful parent is someone who aims to raise happy children through their love and affection, as well as teaching. If you care and worry about whether you are doing enough, then you are. 🙂
