I’m excited for the Christmas holidays this year. Last year, my daughter was just beginning to understand what Christmas was all about, so I’m hoping this Christmas is even better! I think aside from gifts, it’s important to create memories and experiences for your child that will last! This helps to build closeness with everyone in the family. If you need ideas on what to do to create some of those memories that will last, check out my post on Christmas traditions.
So, what are the best Christmas gifts for toddlers?
Here are my recommendations for the best gifts to get toddlers for Christmas this year:
1.DIY Felt Christmas Tree
We got one of these for our toddler last year. We loved it for several reasons: It kept my daughter away from the other Christmas ornaments, and it helps develop skills such as hand-eye coordination and fine-motor skills. This is definitely a must-have for Christmas!
2. Complete Cooking and Baking Set
This has amazing reviews! Honestly, I was surprised at how much my daughter has loved helping me cook, so I’m considering this as a gift for her! I love this set, because all of the utensils are fully functional and can be used to cook and bake.
3. Playskool Sit ‘n Spin
These things still exist??!? I remember playing on one of these! So, I love this toy, because it helps develop coordination and motor skills, but it also can be highly entertaining.
4.Little Tikes First Slide
We got one of these for my daughter. This slide can be used inside or outside and was quite durable when we had one. It is the perfect beginner slide for little ones, which is reflected in the great reviews!
It can also be folded down for easy storage and moving, and it is recommended for kids aged 18 months-6 years of age.
5. KidiBeats Drum Set
This is a best seller on Amazon! There are 3 drum pads and a cymbal, each of which has its own unique sound. There are 9 melodies that toddlers can play along to which includes rock and dance/pop. I also love that this toy teaches letters and numbers along with the music.
6. Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Servin’ Up Fun Food Truck
This is a best seller on Amazon! It comes with 20+ removable play pieces, as well as an interactive food prep area that includes a light-up grill and a service bell. There are also “3 Smart Stages levels” that includes learning content that grows with your child. I also love that it comes with 125+ songs, sounds, tunes, and phrases.
This is a great toy for encouraging pretend play and learning a lot of new things!
7.Tools Workbench
This is a best seller and has excellent ratings! There are more than 100 pieces that come with this workbench, which is equivalent to several toy tool-sets that are being sold. I also like how the workbench can be transformed into a portable suitcase that can hold all the accessories that come with this set!
8. Melissa & Doug Pounding Bench Wooden Toy and Mallet
This is a classic toy, so not surprisingly, it has great reviews! This toy is great for helping your child develop fine-motor skills. In addition, children can name the colors of the pegs.
This toy is recommended for children between the ages of 2-4. I would highly recommend this toy, as we have used a lot of Melissa & Doug toys that have lasted a long time!
9. VTech Spin and Learn Color Flashlight
This toy has excellent reviews and features songs and music that teach children about animals, colors, and numbers. More specifically, it has over “50 sing-along songs, music, sounds, and fun phrases”. Children can count along and learn numbers 1, 2, and 3. This toy is great for kids that are 1-3 years of age.
10. Large Water Doodle Mat
This is a best-seller and has great reviews on Amazon! And what’s great about this is that there’s no mess! You fill the pen with water and draw on the mat, and then the marks will disappear typically within 3-10 minutes.
Children can gain knowledge of the planets as their paint and play. Also, they can develop hand-eye coordination, color perception, as well as painting and creative skills.
11. VTech Pull and Sing Puppy
This toy is great for building gross motor skills, as children can pull or push the puppy along. When children pull the puppy by the cord, this also activates music and sounds, and the puppy’s legs also move! There are three buttons on the side that children can press (the pressing of the buttons help develop fine-motor skills), which results in music or a particular sound.
This puppy seems to do many things, as it also introduces colors and body parts, which helps enhance your little one’s language skills! This seems like such a fun and educational gift!
12. Best Toddler Books for Gifts
I plan on getting my little some books for Christmas. Here are my top recommendations (All of these I have either bought myself or have great reviews):
13.Pop-Up Tent With Tunnel and Ball Pit
This is made out of material that is highly resistant to wear and tear. In addition, this tent is also easy to set up, and you can fold it quickly when no one is using it. It is lightweight and comes with a carry bag, so it can be used for children’s parties, backyard play, or a child’s playroom.
This set is great for encouraging physical play and imagination!
I consider a lot of factors when buying Christmas gifts for my little one. For example, I think about her interests, whether or not it will last, and if it’s educational (of course, I go for just fun too). My list includes toys I would definitely buy for my toddler. I hope this list helps you out this Christmas and that you and your family have a great holiday!
